The Maker's Dozen - Milk Presents

June's guest artists Milk Presents give us the inside scoop on life, work and their Curious Parcel in 12 quick-fire questions.

Introduce yourselves please
We’re Leo, Ruby & Adam J

Describe your work in 5 words
Cheeky, queer, fun, moving, lyrical

What does your typical day look like?
When we’re all together a typical day includes several circular conversations, at least two banana breaks, planning which order we should all die in and making up stupid song instead of actually making a show.

What inspires you to make performance?
We want to connect. Connecting with people and their experiences is something live performance is particularly good at. You can’t beat it really.

Who would play you in the film of your life?
The Muppets ?!?

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
To fund our first ever tour Leo worked all summer cleaning halls of residence which was pretty grim.

What are some of your favourite things?
Back stroking, pre-drinks, hot water bottles

Who has had the biggest influence on you?
Queer theorists & performance makers in general

What would your superpower be?
Being able to manipulate time – there is never enough of it!

What’s the best piece of theatre you’ve ever seen?
Oh bloody hell! This is way too hard – actually HUG by Verity Standen is definitely one of Ruby’s favourites.

What was the last gift you gave someone?
A mini Cacti

What can people expect from your Curious Parcel?
A bit of a party

What do you hope people will take away from it?
Connection, exhilaration and maybe a window into a different world

What’s next for you? Where can people next see your live work?
We’re currently developing on a show for children called PRESTO! But actually our award-winning drag kind play JOAN is still on tour and you can see it next in North Kirklees at the end of July. You can find out more on our website
